2012 UK Study Tour
The NAFA Pan-UK Study Tour Committee is pleased to announce our upcoming May 2012 tour. Unlike previous trips, this study tour will take us “on the road,” traveling from London to Edinburgh, to Cardiff, visiting with 13 different institutions of higher education. Accompanied by Mary Denyer, Assistant Secretary & Head of Scholarship Administration of the Marshall Aid Commemoration Commission, we will be hosted by many of the institutions we met at the National conference in Chicago. In many cases these institutions are subsidizing our stay so that we can keep the cost low for NAFAns.
The details:
Estimated Fee: between $1500-2000*
Dates: May 12-May 27 (two-week time frame)
The NAFA Study Tour fee includes lodging and transportation within the UK. Breakfast will be included in the lodging fees, and many lunches and dinners will be covered by our host institutions. All other meals will be on your own.
Not covered: plane fare to the UK and some meals (as described above)
*At this time, this is an estimate only. We are hoping to offer a budget option for NAFAns willing to share a twin room.
The purpose of this year’s NAFA study tour is to see first-hand many of the institutions outside of the London schools and Oxbridge. The goals are to provide participants with: 1) an authentic UK experience, 2) a better understanding of UK educational system, 3) information on funding sources available to US students in post-graduate programs, 4) a stronger sense of the strengths of schools all over the UK, and 5) the opportunity to forge new links between your institution and the UK Universities including study abroad, academic and research collaborations.
During the site visits we will meet with university administrators, as well as with American students who are currently studying in the UK. The preliminary agenda includes the Universities of Southampton, Cambridge, Durham, Newcastle, Edinburgh, Imperial, UCL, Kings, Bristol, Cardiff, Keele, Warwick and Oxford.
A non-refundable deposit of $300.00 per person per trip is due on January 15, 2012. Final payment is due March 15, 2012.
