The 4th Biennial Conference of NAFA
NAFA in Washington: Scholarships in a National Context

Wednesday, July 25th-Saturday, July 28th
Marriott at Metro Center
775 12th Street, N.W.
Washington, D.C. 20005

Conference Description

"Scholarships in a National Context" is the theme of this year's conference. Capitalizing on our location in Washington, DC, we will present programming on the political institutions that create and define scholarship programs (such as embassies, Congress, and the State Department).

The conference will address:
  • New scholarship initiatives within the federal government;
  • The political context surrounding national scholarships (trends in the appropriations process and scholarship initiatives under the Bush administration);
  • Alternatives and complements to prestigious scholarships (Peace Corps, Teach for America, etc.).
In addition, two optional pre-conference programs will be offered in the early afternoon of Wednesday, July 25th:
  • A "boot camp" for new advisors
  • A session for veteran advisors (most likely, a visit to Capitol Hill to meet with staffers and/or legislators involved in scholarships appropriations processes).
This new programming will supplement our traditional foundation presentations, panels, and advisors' break-out sessions.

Registration Fee

Early bird registration (before May 1): $500 for NAFA members; $575 for non-members

Late registration (May 1-Friday, June 29): $550 for NAFA members; $625 for non-members
